Birchwood is an area of Hatfield in Hertfordshire (UK) and is home to the three dojos of the Hatfield Shotokan Karate Club (also know as "Birchwood Karate Club").

- This family orientated club is one of the many clubs that form the English Shotokan Karate Association (ESKA). ESKA's Hombu (HQ) is based in nearby Stevenage.

- Beginners are Welcome (All ages - 5 to 105)

- The Birchwood club is run by Sensei John Gillespie (4th Dan) and Ian Ramsden (3rd Dan). Both instructors are Qualified.

- John has won many trophies from competing in Kata competitions at both Regional and National levels.
