Birchwood won medals at Wado-Kai England Open Karate Championships
Members of the Birchwood club formed part of the ESKA team who achieved great success at the Wado-Kai
These England Open Karate Championships took place in Reading at the Rivermead Leisure Complex.
In all, the ESKA Kata Squad squad came away with 9 medals from this two day event which took place on 25th and 26th June 2005. Saturday being for Kata and Sunday for Kumite.

John Gillespie – 1st in category for Male Senior Shotokan Kata.
Melissa Wiseman & Mercedes Samavi – Members of kata team awarded 2nd in category for Shotokan Team Kata.
Jonathan Paley – Member of team awarded 3rd in category for Shotokan Team Kata.
Charlie Fisher – Member of team awarded 3rd in category for Shotokan Team Kata.
Melissa Wiseman – 2nd in category for Female Individual Shotokan Kata 16yrs & over, 4th Kyu & below.
Mercedes Samavi – 3rd in category for Female Individual Shotokan Kata 11-15yrs, 4th Kyu & below.
Daniel Croucher, Charlie Fisher, Haig Leonard competing in the Shotokan Team Kata.
